Damart women’s thermal wear review: the New York test

If you feel the cold, or have a trip to a colder climate planned, here is our women’s thermal wear review of some thermal vests and socks from Damart. Tried and tested in New York City in December. If they can make it there, they’ll make it anywhere!

As someone who is continually cold (and that is not a good thing when you live in Wales) I was delighted to be asked to review some thermal vests from Damart. I was also fortunate enough to be spending Christmas 2017 in New York and with predicted temperatures of minus five degrees Centigrade (and below) I was in desperate need of some thermals.

I received two thermal vests and two pairs of thermal socks to review. Here are my thoughts.

Women’s thermal wear review: Damart cosy socks

These are gorgeous fluffy socks. Your brain tells you that they are going to keep you warm long before you actually put them on. I tramped around the streets of New York for hours and never once complained of cold feet.

This did not go unnoticed by my teen daughters and by day three one pair had been removed from my possession and were being used by my eldest. They can be easily washed and dry off quickly over-night.

Women’s thermal wear review: Damart Lace Trim Turtleneck Thermal Top

This is a very stylish thermal vest! It has a pretty lace trimmed turtleneck top which is not just there to look good. It is designed to store body heat to keep you warm when the temperature drops and it works like a dream. I was slightly concerned that it would be itchy as I can be incredibly fussy about tight things around my neck but I found it very comfortable.

It also has a clever climate control for warmth using Thermolactyl Evolution. You get to enjoy constant warmth from the clever crystals added to the fibres. They absorb your body heat and release it back as your temperature drops. We had to wait for half an hour next to a very cold Hudson River waiting for a cruise to the Statue of Liberty and guess who was the warmest member of our group!? Once you are inside you don’t feel too hot. You can remove your other layers and sit in a café or bar in the vest without over-heating and without looking like you are in your underwear! You can find more details here. It’s also available in Black and Ecru.

Women’s thermal wear review: Damart Sleeveless Thermal Vest

On the days when the temperature was not predicted to fall quite so low, I opted to wear my sleeveless thermal vest top which provides lightweight cosy Thermolactyl warmth. The pretty neckline was visible above a few of my outfits and simply looked like a lacy top. This is a classic thermal vest which is extremely comfortable to wear and will keep you lovely and warm.

I chose the Black version because I thought it would match well with most outfits. It is also available in Delft Blue, Heather, Lilac Pastel, Ruby and White. You can find one yourself here.

This is me taking my time to enjoy the stunning view from the Top of the Rockafellar Centre in Midtown Manhattan on a very cold Christmas Eve!  As is probably clear from this women’s thermal wear review, I was utterly delighted with all of my Damart thermal items and can thoroughly recommend them as a sound investment for the cold weather.

I was gifted the above items in exchange for an honest review. The words and pictures are my own.

Christmas in New York sounds amazing and something on my wish list. i don’t have the need for thermals here in Dubai, but needed them in winter in South Africa. I like the vest style thermal layers, not too bulky and nice touch with the lace on the other top when you go inside and take your outer wear off #tweensteensbeyond

I’m glad they were warm. They look like something I need to invest in because here in Massachusetts it gets pretty cold. We also just came out of the negative temperatures but it’s still pretty cold here. These are worth looking into:) Thanks so much for hosting #TweensTeensBeyond

Those socks look brilliant! It’s probably not as cold here but they’d still be great for frosty dog walks. I might check if they make some that hubby would approve of …

Wow, you don’t think of thermals as being so pretty but there are some really nice bits there. I bet you couldn’t get them on quick enough. I can only imagine how cold it must have been and there is nothing worse than that feeling and I hope that they kept you warm and toasty so that you could enjoy the delights of NYC x #tweensteensbeyond

I can’t get over how pretty these are!! I have thermals for chilly school runs but they’re the most drab , horrid garments ever. These are way better and the socks look the cosiest!! #tweensteensbeyond

My daughter is off to Iceland later this year on a school trip and we are already starting to think about what she will need – thermals are top off the list so I will be checking these out for sure – love the pretty vests! #TweensTeensBeyond
